In the journey of building a business, especially in the cleaning industry, it’s easy to feel like you’re just another player in a crowded field. But here’s something I’ve come to realize through my own experiences: The world needs you, needs us, to fully embrace our God-given potential, especially in this industry.
There was a time when I questioned my path in the cleaning business. I wondered if I was doing enough, if my efforts were truly making a difference. The industry can sometimes feel undervalued, with many seeing it as just another service rather than recognizing the profound impact we have on people’s lives. But then, I had a realization:
The world needs me to be rich, not just in profits, but in living out the fullness of my potential as a leader in the cleaning industry.
When we hold back or underestimate our influence, we’re not just shortchanging ourselves, we’re shortchanging our clients, our teams, and the industry as a whole.
Let me share a personal story. Early in my career, I was hesitant to expand my business into a luxury cleaning service. I thought, “Who would pay a premium for cleaning? It’s just cleaning.” But I quickly learned that it wasn’t just about the act of cleaning, it was about transforming spaces and elevating the well-being of my clients.
By embracing the full potential of my business, I was able to create a service that didn’t just clean homes; it transformed them into sanctuaries, intentional and beautifully well laid out spaces. That shift in perspective changed everything. It allowed my business to thrive and, more importantly, it showed me that by embracing my potential, I could impact lives in ways I hadn’t imagined.
One quote that has guided me through this journey is from Marianne Williamson:
“Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do.”
This resonates deeply with me because it reminds me that by stepping fully into my purpose, by aiming to be the best in my field, I inspire others in my industry to do the same.
As cleaning business owners, our work is about so much more than just maintaining clean spaces. We are in the business of creating environments that promote health, well-being, and peace of mind. Every decision we make, every service we offer, has the potential to elevate someone’s life. This is why it’s so important to recognize that your potential is not just for you, it’s for the world. When you shine in your business, you give others permission to see the value in our industry, to strive for excellence, and to elevate their own standards.
The Bible reminds us in Ephesians 2:10,
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
This scripture speaks to me deeply as a business owner because it reminds me that my work has purpose. We are here to do good works through our businesses, to create positive change in the lives of those we serve, and to uplift our industry.
So, I urge you today: Don’t shy away from your potential in this business. Don’t let fear or doubt hold you back from growing your cleaning empire. The world needs you to be rich in your talents, your innovation, and your passion for creating clean, beautiful spaces. Embrace your God-given potential with confidence, knowing that by doing so, you’re not just building a business, you’re making a lasting impact.
Let’s step into the fullness of who we are meant to be as leaders in the cleaning industry and make the impact we were designed to make. The world, and our industry, needs us now more than ever.
